Jargon associated with Neighbourhood Plans

This page explains the various bits of jargon used in the Neighbourhood Planning process.

Local Plan: Produced by the Local Authority (in Wansford’s case Peterborough City Council). it defines their

Neighbourhood Plan: A plan develoepd by a Parish that defines how it wants the village to develop over the next 5-10 years. It is a community led plan, rather than being led by the Parish Council. It requires consultaton with teh community and ultimately a community vote to get its approval. Once adopted it becomes a guiding policy within the Local Authority’s Local Plan. Note: This website supports the development of the Wansford Neighbourhood Plan for Wansford, north of the River Nene. South of the river is within the Stibbington-cum-Sibson parish.

Parish Boundary: The boundary of the Parish, which will include areas beyond the developments within the village boundary.

Village boundary: The village boundary is within the Parish boundary. It defines the limits of the built-up area of the settlement. The Wansford Village map is on the PCC website and also available on this website Wansford Village Boundary. (see also Settlement Boundary)

Conservation Area: An area within the Village Boundary with special rules about how building and how they look. (get better definition)

Settlement Boundary: Part of a Local plan that defines various Village’s boundaries within the Local Plan. These are defined in the policies map of a Council.

Local Council:

Parish Council: The elected representatives for the Parish.
